Abstract

The times are rolling very rapidly, has changed the order of
people's lives. In Madura, for example, the life of people
experiencing major transformation, from traditionalism to modern
lifestyles. This has an impact on the character and culture shift.
People are increasingly alienated from the character and culture of
their ancestors (leluhur) that puts manners, politeness, modesty,
obedience and silaturrahim with a very strong religious frame.
Reflecting on the life of the ancestors to look the future is very
important for the character and religius culture of community is
not uprooted. This can be done one through Kompolan
Kekerabatan/Bani (family organization) as laboratory community�based education that is currently playing a role in the middle of the
Madura. This study will reveal the organization, role and strategy
Kompolan Kekerabatan/Bani building character and religious
culture of the of Madura’s people. This study used a qualitative
ethnographic research approach. The data source is determined by
snowball sampling. Data collection techniques using participantVol. 1 No. 1 Juni 2016

observation, indepht interview, and documentation. The data were
analyzed using the Spradley Domain Model Analysis of Spradley.
The results of the research show that: 1. The process of
implementation and formation of Kompolan Kekerabatan/Bani
performed with routine and incidental meetings, rallies, events and
silaturrahim grand haul, religious instruction, tahlilan and prayer
together, the family council, the introduction of the main
character/public figure, the next generation, management and
kompolan’s members, secretariat offices, recruitment, and lineage
(silsilah keturunan); 2. Role in building character and religious
culture done through the strengthening of faith and piety, religious
knowledge enhancement, expansion of the network of kinship
(kekerabatan), religious guidance to the community, help fund
education for poor families, orphan benefits, establish religious
educational institutions (formal and non-formal), mosques
empowerment, economic empowerment family, and family conflict
resolution; 3. The strategy carried out through religious lectures,
special approach in certain families, family coaching and religious
environment, introduction of the pious ancestors, the
establishment of a productive environment, social control is active,
praying for future generations.
